Our Painting

All year long I have wanted to buy a painting. I have seen many fabulous ones, from the Khan Bank collection to exhibits at various galleries in town. It is all pretty intimidating, though, and my Mongolian is not good enough to negotiate with artists directly. A few weeks I went along on a visit to see Bumendorj, an artist who has painted many wonderful, huge paintings of ger districts.

Those paintings are big, one meter by two, and out of our league, at several thousand dollars. Then, thanks to Sandra, the wife of NPR’s Neal Jackson, I found a new little gallery with some great paintings. The one I chose is by Aruintugs and is called Horses on a Rope. I love it.
