We Love Chang Mai
by Rachel
Charlie and I arrived here on Sunday after an unexpected weekend in Beijing, courtesy of Air China. Fortunately, Team Beijing was there with open arms, as was Team Korea and part of Team Shanghai, so we had a great time. We ate our usual favorite foods, shopped, strolled through parks and caught a glimpse of Mao.
We spent a night in Kuala Lumpur, walking around the glistening airport with our mouths gaping. The next morning we flew here, to Chang Mai. We’ve eaten very well, strolled through markets, gotten foot massages and admired wats. Buddhist iconography seems to like animals as much as we do, and is full of snakes and elephants and so on. We spent a few hours wandering around a mall this afternoon, where Charlie got new jeans, which is something that could not be accomplished in Mongolia. The food of choice is a green papaya salad with peppers, beans, peanuts and all sorts of tasty things. Jonthan has been an excellent host, as usual.
We leave tomorrow for Luang Prabang in Laos, and will be there until Saturday.
