Christmas, Round 2
January 29, 2006

One of the benefits of a poor postal system is that Christmas could well last three or four months here. Some packages get delivered to the Asia Foundation office. The rest of the time we have to go to the Tuv Shuudan, or Central Post Office. A few Mondays ago we appeared with our passports and the claim slip. Twenty minutes, a few annoyed bureaucrats and two dollars later we emerged with two fabulous boxes.
Team Rob and Ariel and Team Laura and Katie both sent treats. Coffee, rosemary crackers, anchovies, the New York Times magazine, New Yorkers, paperbacks. And an indoor-outdoor thermometer!
